The Pasadena Trails Cooperative Story
Pasadena Trails Cooperative has grown over the years into a 114-site, resident-owned manufactured home community.
But that transition didn't happen overnight. We began the move toward controlling our own destiny in 2008. That's when, with the help of Community Resource Group and ROC USA, LLC, we formed Pasadena Trails Cooperative that would, on June 30, 2009, purchase and take control of our community.
Now, the resident-owned community (ROC) is not only a successful business, but also a thriving family neighborhood. The process of the resident-owned community buying the land beneath our neighborhood brought this community closer together. Not only do we know far more of our neighbors than ever before, but we look out for one another, too. And with no outside landlord to report to, we're the envy of other nearby manufactured home communities.
Our Member households elect our Board of Directors, which works with a property manager and also appoints various volunteer committees to help with special projects, celebrations, community improvements and more. The Board submits a budget every year, and the entire Membership votes on it and any changes to the rent before the budget becomes official. We're running the multi-million dollar business that is our community on our terms, by our rules, for the betterment of ourselves and our neighbors.
Pasadena Trails couldn't be better situated close to major cities such as Houston and Galveston, yet only 20 minutes from the Armand Bayou Nature Center, with five miles of hiking trails and butterfly garden. La Port, Baytown, and Seabrook are a quick 20 minute drive. We enjoy easy access to grocery stores and the Fairmont Parkway Shopping Center is ten minutes down the road. Easy access to Beltway 8 and highways 225 and 146 provides connections to wherever you're headed. Enjoy 2,000 feet of sandy beach in Sylvan Beach Park, a short 25 minute drive away. The Kemah Boardwalk provides entertainment for all ages and is 30 minutes from Pasadena Trails. The Space Center Houston is a fascinating way to spend the day on the NASA Tram Tour, having lunch with an astronaut, or touring the various exhibits of space exploration history. With Carpenter Elementary School situated less than one-half mile from the Community, Pine Park a mile away, and a movie theater two miles down the road, Pasadena Trails is a great location to raise your family.
Along with our annual meeting of the Membership, we have a kids Easter egg hunt each year. A welcoming community, Pasadena Trails is centrally located with easy access to work and school opportunities.
We are proud of our community and feel lucky that our neighbors are also our friends.
Ask anyone who lives in Pasadena Trails Cooperative, and we're sure they'll tell you it's a little slice of heaven.
